Employment

At the International School of Düsseldorf, we recruit qualified and experienced teachers and administrators from all around the world who believe in our vision, mission, educational principles, learning principles, and who support our commitment to internationalism.

Our school year starts in August and our recruitment begins in January of the same calendar year.

Applications for specific positions can be submitted whenever open positions are published. We typically begin listing our upcoming openings in December here on our website. We also frequently post openings on external websites such as Search Associates and CIS (please note that prior registration is required for both).

Our Director, Mr. Simon Head, attends the following job fairs to carry out personal interviews with prospective candidates:

SEARCH Melbourne:         January 2018

SEARCH Bangkok:             January 2018

CIS London:                        January 2018

Professional Development

All employees are offered access and funding towards professional development opportunities. Teachers are invited to attend regular IB training to develop their skills and career advancement as an educator.

In addition, we support funding towards a ‘Masters in International Education’ through the University of Bath in the UK.

Visit our Professional Learning Institute (PLI) and Hub of Innovation to find out more about our challenging and inspiring learning opportunities.

Employee Well-Being

Employee well-being is important to us. We offer our employees a financial allowance for participation in a wide range of opportunities including fitness and weight loss clubs, back exercise and yoga classes, or wellness massages and physiotherapy treatments.

We also provide our employees and their family members with access to an Employee Assistance Programmme that offers 24-hour telephone support for financial, emotional and practical concerns. The ISD medical staff are available to our employees for advice and guidance.

Our HR team provides support during the relocation to and from Germany, as well as throughout the duration of our employees’ stay with us.

In addition, we host an annual dinner party in December for all employees and their families, provide child care for staff children during professional development days, give compassionate leave in times of need, offer free flu inoculations, and make sure there is always a range of hot drinks in the staff lounges!
