From Parents for Parents
We are thrilled to be home to a group of highly active parent volunteers who support our students and the school-community at large. Last year, 302 parents volunteered in 23 different projects! We welcome and encourage parent engagement because we know that children, whose parents give time and energy to their school and are interested in their education, are more motivated to fully engage in their own learning process.
Our ISD parents volunteer their time and talents in a diverse array of activities throughout the school year: from welcoming new families and sharing cultural traditions with the community, to supporting the arts and sports, working in our libraries, mentoring students, organizing events, fundraising for ISD and community projects, and so much more… our parent volunteers are here, there – everywhere!
Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects is what parent volunteers gain in return from being an active part of our ISD community: new skills, a more international perspective, a sense of community and a host of friendships that continue long after their time at ISD is over.
