Mother Tongue
Research suggests that the more developed a student’s mother tongue (native language) is, the more successful the student can be in acquiring additional languages.
Our Mother Tongue courses are offered as after-school activities for students to maintain and continue developing their first language. There are more than 12 Mother Tongue courses on offer at ISD.
To support the students’ social and academic success, parents are encouraged to maintain their mother tongue, culture and traditions at home, while providing opportunities for their children to connect to their culture.
Our current Mother Tongue languages include:
- Catalan
- Dutch
- Finnish
- French
- Greek
- Italian
- Japanese
- Polish
- Russian
- Spanish
- Swedish
