Who We Are

The International School of Düsseldorf e.V. (ISD) is a not-for-profit, independent, co-educational day school serving the needs of over 1,040 reception to grade 12 students from about 52 countries. Due to our non-profit status, all our income is invested back into the school for the benefit of our students.

We are a school with a dedication to contribute, a willingness to question and a mission to foster global-mindedness within our community and beyond. As a leader in innovation since our founding in 1968, ISD works to meet the ever-changing demands of the world of which our students are an integral part. We guide our children towards understanding more about their own roles and responsibilities within their families, their community, and the world at large.

To achieve this, we encourage our students to explore questions about things they want to know. We also show them how to connect what they find out, to what they need to know. And during this process, we help them learn the skills and strategies they need to inquire about anything they wish. By pursuing questions that matter to them, students become more involved in their learning and, ultimately, become independent learners.
